About Eleni Zevgaridou
My work takes a variety of forms, abstract, figurative and narrative. The materials are clay, resin, plaster, acrylics, mixed media. All my sculptural works share a fascination about human connections, body language and individuality.
I was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. After 28 years in the communication and advertising sector, I turned my full attention to art. In 2010-12, I studied sculpture under Professor Slawomir Andrzej Mieleszko at the Art Institute of Maria Sklodowska-Curie, University of Lublin, Poland. I received a Master’s degree in Fine Art at the University of Lincoln, UK and I am member of the Royal Society of Sculptors.About the Product
Lilian and Antoine is a pair of figures that are part of the “Nomatei” society, an installation of handmade, minumental, representational, full body portraits of individuals made of fired clay. The group of figures explores complementarity, understanding and social behaviour, through the heterogeneity of the figure and through minumentalisation. The constant repositioning of these sculptural ‘sketches’ seeks to explore experiences of cooperation, loneliness, tolerance, success, loss, prejudice, and ultimately coexistence.
The pieces are made free standing i.e. without base, they balance on their own feet making it easy to move around in your space, changing places at anytime. To achieve best/stable contact with the surface you place them on, they come with a thin layer of wax under their feet.
