Federico Rizzo is a contemporary Italian artist. His paintings exhibit a masterful handling of light and shadow that often suggest deep human emotions. A subtle, continuous search dominates his still life painting. The depiction of fruit and laid tables seems inspired by seventeenth-century still life painters such as Adriaen Coorte and the Italian painter Artemisia Gentileschi. Photographer and documentarist, he mutuated the art of observing and manipulating light and shadow of the real world into the art of painting. He paints in a traditional way, preparing his linen canvas and wooden tables with gesso primer.
