Terms & Conditions

Friendly enough to read, firm enough to protect the marketplace. These Terms explain how buying, selling, editions, frames, payments, fulfilment and subscriptions work on Artlimes.

For buyers and sellers

Clear duties for accounts, listings, orders, returns, identity checks, disputes and platform use.

Editions by Artlimes

Covers limited and open editions, certificates, frames, fulfilment partners, artist rights and numbering.

Shipping and fulfilment

Separates seller-shipped originals from Artlimes-managed editions, frames and supplier fulfilment.

Payments and payouts

Explains checkout authorisation, capture, subscriptions, fees, taxes, promotions and seller payouts.

Please read these Terms carefully. They apply to buyers, sellers, visitors and anyone using Artlimes services. They sit alongside our Privacy Policy, seller settings, checkout information, return policies, subscription terms and any campaign-specific terms shown to you.

1. Who we are

Artlimes is operated by Artlimes Ltd., a company registered in England and Wales. Artlimes provides an online marketplace where buyers can discover and purchase original artworks, editions, prints, design objects, jewellery and other approved creative works from independent sellers, galleries, artists and selected partners.

When these Terms refer to Artlimes, we, us or our, they refer to Artlimes Ltd. and the services we provide through Artlimes.com and our related websites, tools, checkout, accounts, dashboards, emails and support channels.

2. Acceptance of these Terms

By creating an account, listing work, subscribing to a seller plan, placing an order, accepting checkout terms, using the platform or continuing to browse Artlimes, you agree to these Terms and any policies linked from them.

If you use Artlimes on behalf of a company, gallery, studio or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

3. Our marketplace role

Artlimes acts as a marketplace and technology platform. Sellers are responsible for the accuracy, legality, authenticity, availability, pricing, condition and dispatch of the items they list, except where an item is expressly fulfilled by Artlimes or an Artlimes-appointed production partner.

We may review listings, moderate content, verify sellers, process payments, provide buyer and seller support, facilitate returns, manage promotions and remove items or accounts where needed to protect the platform, our users or the integrity of the marketplace.

4. Accounts, verification and security

You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for activity on your account and must keep your login details secure.

Sellers may be required to complete identity, business, tax, banking, address or document checks before listing, receiving payouts or continuing to sell. Verification may be handled by Artlimes, Stripe or other trusted providers. We may pause payouts, listings or account access while verification, compliance or fraud checks are pending.

5. Seller obligations

Sellers must only list items they have the right to sell, describe them truthfully, upload accurate images, disclose materials, dimensions, edition information, condition, framing, shipping terms and return terms, and keep availability and pricing current.

Sellers are responsible for packaging, dispatch, tracking, insurance where appropriate, responding to support requests and complying with consumer, tax, customs, sanctions, intellectual property and cultural goods laws that apply to their sales.

Artlimes may require additional information, hide or remove listings, cancel orders, reverse payouts, refund buyers or suspend seller privileges where a listing, seller action or fulfilment issue creates legal, financial, safety, authenticity or customer-experience risk.

6. Listings, authenticity and intellectual property

Sellers warrant that listed works are authentic, lawfully owned or authorised for sale, and do not infringe copyright, moral rights, trade marks, privacy rights, resale restrictions, cultural property rules or any third-party rights.

By uploading images, text, videos, certificates, shop content or other material, sellers grant Artlimes a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, crop, resize, cache, promote, index, translate and otherwise use that material to operate, market and improve Artlimes.

Sellers retain ownership of their original intellectual property unless expressly agreed otherwise. Granting Artlimes permission to create Editions by Artlimes does not transfer copyright ownership to Artlimes.

7. Editions by Artlimes

Editions by Artlimes are print, canvas, framed or other edition products made available from eligible seller artworks or photographs. Sellers must own or control the necessary reproduction rights before enabling editions.

Editions may be limited editions, open editions or other configured edition types. Where an edition has a stated total, Artlimes may track edition numbers and sold quantities. Sellers cannot reset sold edition numbers or misrepresent edition limits after sales begin.

Edition sizes, materials, frame options, image quality and availability may depend on the uploaded file, supplier capabilities, product configuration and destination. We may reject, resize, crop, colour-manage or decline production where the artwork file or order cannot be produced to an acceptable standard.

Unless a product page states otherwise, Editions by Artlimes are produced only after an order is placed, may be fulfilled by Artlimes or trusted production partners, and may include a Certificate of Authenticity or verification of sale generated by Artlimes.

Small differences in colour, texture, sizing, finish, framing, glass, acrylic, paper, canvas, margins or presentation can occur because screens, materials and production processes vary. These differences are not faults where the item remains materially consistent with the product description.

8. Frames, certificates and Artlimes-managed fulfilment

Frames, mounts, glass, acrylic, packaging, certificates and related options may be offered by Artlimes or by selected fulfilment partners. Availability, production times, pricing and specifications may vary by location, artwork size, supplier and stock.

For Artlimes-managed editions, frames or supplier-fulfilled items, Artlimes may choose the fulfilment route, supplier, packaging and shipping service. We may substitute equivalent materials or suppliers where needed to complete an order without materially reducing quality.

9. Prices, taxes, currencies and promotions

Prices may include or exclude taxes, duties, customs charges, delivery costs or platform fees depending on the item, destination, seller status and checkout flow. Buyers are responsible for any taxes, duties, import charges or local fees not collected at checkout.

Artlimes may support multiple currencies and may use exchange rates, rounding and payment-provider calculations. Displayed prices, totals and payout values may differ slightly because of conversion, rounding, tax, discount or provider fees.

Artlimes may run discounts, campaigns, coupons, subscriptions, seller offers, free-shipping promotions or other incentives. We may fund, share or pass through promotion costs according to the campaign terms and seller settings. Promotions may be changed, paused or withdrawn where there is error, abuse, stock issue or commercial need.

10. Orders, payment authorisation and capture

When a buyer places an order, payment may be authorised first and captured later, or captured immediately, depending on the item type, fulfilment path, payment method and fraud checks. For seller-fulfilled items, the seller accepts the order through one action and Artlimes then captures the authorised payment. Editions and Artlimes-managed items may be accepted and captured automatically so production can begin.

An order is not guaranteed until payment is authorised and accepted, fraud checks are passed, the item is available and, where needed, the seller or Artlimes confirms fulfilment. We may cancel or refund an order where an item is unavailable, mispriced, restricted, unsafe, fraudulent, incorrectly described or not reasonably capable of fulfilment.

11. Shipping, delivery and risk

Sellers are responsible for shipping originals and seller-fulfilled items using suitable packaging, accurate customs information and trackable services where appropriate. Buyers must provide complete delivery details and cooperate with customs, courier and delivery requirements.

Delivery estimates are not guaranteed. Delays may happen because of production, seller availability, courier issues, customs, public holidays, location, weather, strikes, force majeure or payment and compliance checks.

Risk in an item usually passes to the buyer on delivery. Ownership transfers according to applicable law and only after Artlimes or the seller receives cleared payment, subject to refunds, chargebacks, cancellations or fraud reversals.

12. Returns, cancellations and refunds

Seller-fulfilled goods have one Artlimes return policy. A buyer may notify Artlimes that they wish to cancel and return an eligible item within 14 days after the actual carrier-confirmed delivery date and time recorded on the order, without giving a reason. After notifying us, the buyer must send the item back within the further period required by applicable law and follow the return instructions provided by Artlimes.

Items must be returned safely and in their original condition, subject to the handling reasonably necessary to inspect them. The buyer may be responsible for return delivery costs and any reduction in value caused by excessive handling where permitted by law. We may withhold the refund until the item is received or the buyer provides evidence that it has been sent.

Goods made to a buyer's specifications or clearly personalised, and other legally exempt goods, may be non-cancellable or non-returnable where the exemption was disclosed before purchase. Artlimes-managed editions, frames and replacement-only products may have separate terms where permitted by law. These exceptions do not limit rights where an item is faulty, damaged, not as described or incorrectly supplied.

An opened return, damage claim, dispute or chargeback keeps the related seller payout on hold until the matter is resolved. Nothing in this policy reduces mandatory consumer rights that apply in the buyer's country.

How buyers request a return

  1. Sign in and open Purchases in your account. Guest buyers must register or sign in with the same verified email address used at checkout so the order can be matched securely.
  2. Open the delivered order, choose Request a return, select the eligible items and send the reason to Artlimes within 14 days of delivery.
  3. Artlimes reviews the request and provides return instructions. Do not send an item before receiving those instructions. The item must normally be sent within 14 days after the return request is accepted.
  4. Add the carrier and tracking number to the return in Purchases, keep proof of postage and return the item safely in its original condition.
  5. Once the seller confirms that the return has arrived and has been checked, Artlimes processes the approved refund to the original payment method. Bank and payment-provider processing times may apply.

13. Seller fees, subscriptions and payouts

Sellers may pay commissions, payment-processing fees, subscription fees, dispute fees, currency-conversion costs, production costs, framing costs, shipping costs, tax amounts, promotion contributions or other charges shown in the seller dashboard, checkout, plan information or applicable campaign terms.

For seller-fulfilled Original sales, applicable promotions are applied before the payment-processing charge, Artlimes marketplace commission and any currency-conversion cost are calculated. The seller dashboard and order statement show the resulting payout breakdown.

For Editions fulfilled by Artlimes, Artlimes retains the amounts needed for production, framing, delivery, applicable taxes and marketplace fulfilment. Applicable promotions and payment costs are then reflected in eligible net commercial proceeds, currently split 40% to the seller and 60% to Artlimes. The seller statement shows the seller-facing discount, costs and payout without disclosing confidential supplier pricing.

For seller-fulfilled goods, Artlimes captures the buyer's payment when the seller accepts the order. The seller provides the shipment and tracking information, and an Artlimes moderator verifies and records the actual carrier-confirmed delivery date and time. The seller payout remains held until 14 days after that delivery event. A workflow label by itself does not start the payout clock. If a return, damage claim, dispute or chargeback is opened, the hold continues until it is resolved. Eligible payouts are then released according to the seller's payment account and payout schedule.

Artlimes may hold, offset, reverse or deduct amounts connected to refunds, chargebacks, disputes, fees, penalties, fraud, tax, negative balances or breach of these Terms.

Subscription features, pricing, limits and benefits may change. If a seller cancels, downgrades or fails to pay for a subscription, Artlimes may restrict plan features, listing visibility, promotions, analytics, support or other seller tools.

How seller returns and payouts work

  1. Artlimes captures an authorised seller-fulfilled payment when the seller accepts the order. The seller amount remains held by Artlimes while the item is in transit and during the 14-day return request window.
  2. If a buyer opens a return, Artlimes pauses settlement, reviews the request and sends both parties the approved instructions. The buyer is responsible for return shipping unless applicable law or the reason for return requires otherwise.
  3. The buyer adds carrier and tracking details to the order. The seller checks the returned item on arrival and confirms receipt in the order dashboard.
  4. Receipt confirmation starts the approved refund to the buyer's original payment method. If no return or dispute is open after the return window, eligible Stripe payouts are released automatically. Payout arrival time then depends on Stripe and the seller's bank.

14. Reviews, content and communications

Users must not upload unlawful, misleading, abusive, obscene, infringing, discriminatory, fraudulent, harmful or malicious content. We may moderate, remove or edit content that breaches these Terms or harms the marketplace.

By using Artlimes, you agree that we may contact you about your account, orders, subscriptions, listings, legal notices, verification, support, security and service updates. Marketing communications can be managed through the unsubscribe or account options where available.

15. Prohibited conduct

You must not misuse Artlimes, bypass checkout, avoid fees, manipulate prices, misrepresent identity, copy listings without permission, scrape the platform, interfere with security, introduce malware, abuse promotions, evade sanctions, sell prohibited items, launder money, commit fraud or attempt to move marketplace transactions outside Artlimes after discovering a buyer or seller through Artlimes.

We may investigate suspected abuse and share information with payment providers, fulfilment partners, law enforcement, regulators or affected users where appropriate.

16. Platform availability and changes

We aim to keep Artlimes reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Features may be updated, suspended, removed or replaced. We may change search, caching, indexing, seller tools, pricing tools, edition settings, checkout, shipping, subscriptions or fulfilment integrations as the platform develops.

We are not responsible for losses caused by downtime, third-party services, payment providers, couriers, suppliers, internet failures, browser issues, cached pages, account misuse or events outside our reasonable control.

17. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Artlimes is not liable for indirect, consequential, special, punitive or business losses, including loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, data or reputation. Our total liability for a transaction is limited to the amount paid to Artlimes for that transaction, unless the law requires otherwise.

18. Privacy and data

We process personal data according to our Privacy Policy. This includes data needed to operate accounts, payments, checkout, identity verification, fraud prevention, legal compliance, analytics, support, marketing preferences and marketplace safety.

Payment, identity, fulfilment, analytics and communication providers may process data as independent controllers or processors according to their own terms and our agreements with them.

19. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer laws in your country provide otherwise. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply where you live.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact Artlimes support so we can try to resolve the issue quickly and fairly.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when our services, legal requirements, seller tools, edition fulfilment, payment flows or business processes change. The latest version will be posted on this page with the update date.

If a change is material, we may provide additional notice by email, dashboard message, checkout notice or another reasonable method. Continuing to use Artlimes after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
