Ashdown Forest Path is an autumn path oil painting inspired by the Ashdown Forest of East Sussex. It measures 30 x 30 x 1.5 inches. The painting was made after a walk in Ashdown Forest (Winnie the Pooh country) in October 2025. Beech trees had a green hue and were almost bare, except for some dark orange leaves, whilst the forest floor was golden and purple with fallen leaves. This particular path goes towards a clearing and stream in the distance, where you can see the pale yellow light of a late autumn afternoon shining between the trees. I was trying to capture this moment in time, along with the ethereal quality that is often present when you walk a forest path. It is painted on deep-edge canvas with pale yellow edges, ready to hang, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
