About Cody Choi

Cody Choi is a contemporary photographer and choreographer known for his stunning figurative portraits of dancers. Born in Hong Kong and a dancer himself, Cody captures the dynamism and passion of his subjects with an expert eye. Cody’s work is funded by Arts Council England, as well as commissioned by the Royal Opera House and Greenwich Dance London, and exhibited globally.

Shot in Kaohsiung, Taiwan while Cody was teaching and choreographing at Tsoying High School. “Gama was 15 years old and I felt there was potential in her that had yet to be discovered. I invited her to the studio as I thought she had some very special energy and dynamism in her movements. It turned out that it was a photography session in which she not only surprised me but also herself, with the ability to effortlessly control her body to create layers of momentum floating across frames.”
