The Wild, 2015

This is a completely unique and original Preston M. Smith Pop Surrealist painting on wood. It is the second in a series of black and white pieces with hints of vibrant colour to accent certain aspects of the subject matter. They are a mixture of oil paint and ink on wood. This piece is mysterious, seductive, calming, sensual, meditative, surrealistic and realistic. It draws from both my experience growing up in the mountains and our human connection with nature and the planet. The fox is a symbol of wisdom and strength to me, and there is a strong visceral connection in this piece between the female figure and the fox. This painting embodies the "wild" in all of us.
