About this artwork

This subject is deliberately mannered in style to emphasise the unusual posture whippets adopt when resting or sleeping. Like many of my paintings, I favour an abstract or semi-abstract background. I could give some intellectual post justification for this; however, it just pleases me to arrange the juxtaposition of form and colour in this way.

The work consists of a Rowney Cryla acrylic base coat of burnt orange; opaque pigments are then used to lay down the undercoating of some of the subject matter. Subsequently, acrylic paint is used in washes that have been thinned using Liquidex airbrush medium. This layering of the work allows for subtle tonal attributes that give depth and intensity. The overall result is an acrylic painting with a degree of luminosity rather than the usual flat acrylic finish.

Our canvas prints are stretched and framed using a 12-colour Giclée process; providing you with spectacular quality each and every time.
