Shadows of the Moon

This painting captures the gentle interplay of light and tone, evoking the soft silver glow of moonlight spilling over a crisp, snowy landscape. Through expressive, layered brushwork, I’ve created a dreamlike woodland glade, where delicate birch trees stand quietly beneath a romantic, rising moon. An original, one-of-a-kind piece, this work is painted with acrylics on deep-edged canvas. My process begins with careful observation, then in the studio, I work intuitively, starting with loose brushwork and gradually building rich texture using palette knife techniques. I draw inspiration from the optical mixing of the Impressionists as well as traditional methods of the old masters, including scumbling and glazing.

Each layer adds depth and emotion, and I refine the piece until it reaches a natural sense of completion. The result is a contemporary painting that sits between realism and abstraction. The painting continues around the canvas edges, it is signed on the front, and comes ready to hang, no framing required.
