Artwork
This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, created using acrylic paints on a deep-edged canvas that requires no framing. The process begins with direct observation of place, supported by notes and photographs, before continuing intuitively in the studio. Initial layers are applied with a brush, followed by richly textured impasto built up with a palette knife. Techniques such as expressive dappled strokes, scumbling, and glazing are used to develop depth and luminosity. The painting continues until it reaches a natural conclusion.
The finished piece is contemporary in spirit, positioned at the intersection of abstraction and realism. The image continues around the sides of the canvas. The work is signed on the front and it arrives ready to hang.
