Field of Poppies

Red poppies fill this canvas from edge to edge. Some are close and large, and others fade into the distance near the top. Their petals are built up in thick layers of paint, so every flower catches the light and has real depth and relief. Behind them, the grass shifts from warm yellow to fresh green. Touches of blue and white in the upper corner add air and a sense of open sky. Small blue buds and pale seed heads are scattered among the stems and give the eye places to rest.

This painting has a bright, joyful energy. It brings summer warmth into a room and works well as a focal point in a living room, dining area, or any space that needs colour and life. Oil on canvas. Signed and varnished.
