About Natalia Shchipakina

Painting has been my passion since childhood. Among many different techniques oil painting is my favourite.

Themes of my paintings are as variegated as our world: cities, people, life, animals, dramatic art, nature. I am greatly influenced by such famous artists like Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Isaac Levitan, Auguste Renoir. My work was strongly influenced by Picasso.

Inspired by the dramatic cliffs of Playa de Las Catedrales on Spain’s northern coast, this painting captures one of the natural arches sculpted by centuries of wind and Atlantic waves. The massive rock formation rises like a cathedral portal above the shoreline. The scene evokes the powerful beauty of Galicia’s coastline, that resemble the arches and vaults of ancient buildings.
