Reaching for the Light, 2025

In this expressive piece, I have intertwined abstraction with expressionism in response to looking up at trees, evoking a sense of growth and an innate reaching towards the light through a forest canopy. With tones of green and gold, this creation is an homage to the spirit of nature, a visual symphony that will infuse any space with a sense of peace and the limitless possibilities that lie above us. The painting continues around the sides, so a frame is not needed, and it is ready to hang.

An original, one-of-a-kind artwork, this painting has been created with high-quality acrylic paints on deep-edged canvas. I begin by observing the place, making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings, I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush before applying layers of impasto with a palette knife.
