This painting evokes the essence of an archetypal image deeply rooted in our collective imagination. The solitary tree, a timeless symbol found in myths, legends, and folklore, embodies strength, wisdom, and independence, bridging earth and sky. In creating this piece, I hoped to evoke a sense of tranquillity, where soft light radiates gently from the distance. The work forms a tapestry of vibrant colour and renewal, infusing any space with peace and tranquillity.
An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high-quality acrylic paints on a circular canvas. I begin with observation of the place, making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush and then apply impasto techniques, layer on layer, with a palette knife. Harnessing optical mixing techniques employed by the impressionists and some of the methods of the old masters, such as scumbling and glazing, I continue working until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The result is a contemporary painting, which lies somewhere between abstraction and realism. The painting continues round the sides and is signed on the side; a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang. For display purposes, the painting has been photographed on a white background.
