About this artwork

This work was developed through a considered layering of texture and tonal depth, building a surface that feels both immersive and contemplative. Subtle gestures inspired by Impressionist techniques evoke the hush of an enchanted woodland, a space suspended between memory and imagination.
Soft textures of burnished gold and delicately diffused light move across the canvas, creating a lyrical interplay of luminosity and atmosphere. The result is a composition that radiates quiet elegance and restorative calm, inviting the viewer into a moment of stillness and reflection.
Designed to bring a sense of serenity and refined warmth to an interior, this piece offers an intimate reverie inspired by the poetic beauty of the natural world.
An original artwork, one-of-a-kind, this painting has been created with high-quality acrylic paints on a circular canvas. I begin with observation of the place, making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings, I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush, then applying impasto techniques layer on layer with a palette knife. I harness optical mixing techniques employed by the Impressionists and some methods of the Old Masters, such as scumbling and glazing. I continue working until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The result is a contemporary painting, which lies somewhere between abstraction and realism. The painting continues round the sides and is signed on the side; a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang. For display purposes the painting has been photographed on a white background.
