About MERCEDES APARICIO
BIOGRAPHY
Mercedes Aparicio is a well-known Cantabrian artist. She was born in Santander, Cantabria, Spain.
Mercedes's early childhood took place in a house in the countryside; she grew up in freedom and close to nature.
She remembers with great love the loving care of her grandfather, parents, two aunts and two uncles living around her.
At the age of five she started school and graduated from the Institute of Astillero, Santander.
In 1966 her parents went to live in Switzerland, so she had to start early and intensively to learn German and French; then she went to the school Steingutschule in Schaffhausen.
Mercedes was a very spiritual young woman.
She started to study music in Schaffhausen.
Afterwards, she studied in the high school Dolmetcherschule, Zürich: German, Spanish and English.
But she was always searching for her vocation, as she discovered art and enrolled in the Art School in Bern.
In 1985 she began to exhibit in Santander, Cantabria, Madrid, Asturias, Gijón, Bilbao, Logroño, all over Spain, and in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Paris.
