About Aleksandr Dubrovskyy

Mr Aleksandr Dubrovskyy was born in 1949 in Oryneno, Khmelnytsky Oblast, Ukraine.
He started painting early. Painting was his most favoured occupation, beyond all usual boyish interests and activities.
At seven he was admitted to the art school for children in Yenakiieve; at 16, Aleksandr entered Kharkiv College of Art (1965).

In 1969, after graduating from the College of Art, he travelled a lot and worked assiduously on portrait and landscape painting.
His continuing work at the academic villa in Sednyov offered Aleksandr a happy and unique opportunity to work together with, and learn from, such eminent painters as Konstantyn Lomykin, Fedor Zakharov, Nikolay Glushchenko, Viktor Shatalin, and Tatyana Yablonskaya. They profoundly influenced his artistic formation. Sednyov... this marvellous nook of Ukraine became the artist’s creative workshop.

About this artwork

There are places that become inseparable from the memory of a city. In spring, the famous botanical gardens overlooking Kyiv transform into a sea of lilac blossoms, filling the landscape with colour, fragrance and light. This painting captures one of those fleeting moments when nature reaches its peak of beauty.

Aleksandr Dubrovskyy was fascinated by the harmony between flowering lilac gardens, historic architecture and the distant panorama of the city. Layers of pink, violet and lavender blooms flow across the canvas, while golden domes emerge softly among the trees, creating a scene that feels both vibrant and timeless.

Painted in the artist's expressive, impressionist style, the work is filled with movement, sunlight and atmosphere. Thick, luminous brushstrokes capture not only the appearance of spring but its emotion: renewal, joy and the quiet excitement that accompanies the arrival of warmer days.

This painting celebrates one of Eastern Europe's most beloved spring traditions, when thousands gather among the flowering lilacs to admire a landscape that has inspired artists, writers and visitors for generations. It is both a portrait of a place and a tribute to the enduring beauty of nature in bloom.

Rich in colour and optimism, Spring Blossom of Lilac Trees brings the freshness of spring and the elegance of a historic garden into any collection. The unframed canvas is stretched on wooden stretcher bars and ready to hang. Colours may vary slightly depending on the display. The painting is shipped by courier in an impact-resistant box with tracking and the artist's certificate.
