About Aleksandr Dubrovskyy

Mr Aleksandr Dubrovskyy was born in 1949 in Oryneno, Khmelnytsky Oblast, Ukraine.
He started painting early. The painting was his most favoured occupation, beyond all usual boyish interests and activities.
At 7 years he was admitted to the art school for children in Yenakiieve; at 16, Aleksandr entered Kharkiv College of Art (1965).

In 1969, graduating from the College of Art, he travels a lot and works assiduously on portrait and landscape painting.
His continuing work at the academic villa in Sednyov offered Aleksandr a happy and unique opportunity to work together with, and learn from, such eminent painters as Konstantyn Lomykin, Fedor Zakharov, Nikolay Glushchenko, Viktor Shatalin, and Tatyana Yablonskaya. They have profoundly influenced his artistic formation. Sednyov... this marvellous nook of Ukraine became the artist’s creative workshop.

About this Artwork

They Awaken Our Feelings

Some flowers decorate a room. Others remain in memory for a lifetime.

This expressive oil painting belongs to one of Aleksandr Dubrovskyy's most cherished floral series, where flowers become more than a still life. They become a language of emotion, light, and personal memory.

The magnificent bouquet of lilacs seems to float between reality and dream. Layers of lavender, violet, rose, and soft pink dissolve into one another, creating an atmosphere that feels almost weightless. The flowers appear illuminated from within, filling the canvas with freshness, tenderness, and the fleeting beauty of spring.

For the artist, lilac has always been associated with moments of happiness, inspiration, and renewal. Rather than striving for botanical precision, Dubrovskyy sought to capture the feeling that blossoms leave behind: their fragrance carried by the air, their vibrant energy, and the emotions they awaken long after the season has passed.

Painted with rich impressionist brushwork and subtle touches of poetic imagination, this work balances observation and dream. The result is a composition that feels both real and timeless, inviting the viewer into a world where color becomes emotion and memory becomes light.

This painting is a celebration of spring, beauty, and the quiet joy that nature brings into our lives.
