About Pol Ledent
"Colour above all, and perhaps even more than drawing, is a liberation." — Henri Matisse
Pol Ledent is a Belgian painter born in 1952 in Houyet, Belgium. Self-taught, he began painting in 1989, first exploring watercolour before turning to oil painting, which he considers better suited to his expressive approach. Although he took several drawing classes at the Academy of Dinant, he developed primarily through independent practice, creating a distinctive style that he applies to landscapes, still lifes, nude portraits and, more recently, abstraction.
