Chicago in Violet

In this painting I showed Chicago in unusual colours. The sky is violet, with bursts of gold, orange and red breaking out from behind the skyscrapers, and the city skyline glows in deep blue against it. The whole sky is moving. There is a lot of energy in this work.

I wanted to show Chicago the way not many people feel it. It’s not only a city of glass and steel, but also a place full of colour and light. The water of Lake Michigan reflects the sunset and the lights along the shore, and the thick, textured strokes make the surface come alive up close.

It’s a bright, expressive cityscape that will add warmth and mood to a living room, office or any modern interior.
