About Natalia Shchipakina

1Exhibition

Painting has been my passion since childhood. Among many different techniques, oil painting is my favourite.

Themes of my paintings are as variegated as our world: cities, people, life, animals, dramatic art, nature. I am greatly influenced by famous artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Isaac Levitan and Auguste Renoir. My work was strongly influenced by Picasso.

About this artwork

A continuation of my series of paintings dedicated to Hong Kong. I used my favourite subject: the red sailing ships Aqua Luna, traditional Chinese boats with bright red sails. These iconic sailboats take panoramic cruises around Victoria Harbour, allowing passengers to enjoy stunning views of the cityscape. An important element of this work is the sun, which flooded the whole harbour with its golden light. Oil on canvas. Signed. Varnished.
