Road to the Old Town

A country road curves through fields full of red poppies, toward an old town glowing gold in the distance. The sky is wild and violet, with streaks of blue and turquoise moving across it.

The poppies in the foreground are painted thickly with a palette knife, so every petal stands up off the canvas and catches the light. Further back, the fields dissolve into loose strokes of red, green and blue. It's a bright, happy painting — full of summer colour.

Oil on canvas. Signed, varnished.
