About CANDUELA

He is one of the most remarkable emerging sculptors of the new artistic scene in Spain. He has taken part in more than 60 exhibitions, in Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, and has won several prizes. His metallic work wanders around the idea of the sacred. He gets his inspirations from classical forms that he combines with modernity through a simplification exercise. One can sense the influence of great contemporary sculptors such as Noguchi, Chillida, Julio González and Richard Serra.

Canduela’s work, in welded metal sheets, is an outstanding pledge to sculptural quality, to good workmanship and to attention to detail.

About this artwork

The graphical series “Immaterial Assembly” arises as an extension of “Assemblies” sculptural series. The sculptural works of this series, those of regular form and minimalist structure, combine to generate semi-architectural spaces, as a set of columns, forming holes which urge us to explore.

The graphical series transfer the essence of sculpture through a reflection, through an immaterial presence of the sculpture on the paper. There is just a need to set the sculptural work on the paper, and its fleeting imprint helps us fix the essence on the material it has rested on, urging us to imagine the relief form and hollows that left that permanent shadow.

Limited edition of 99.
