Evening Tokyo

Tokyo at night, all color and light — signs stacked on top of each other, a crowd blurring together below, blue turning purple and pink wherever the neon hits it. I worked this one with a palette knife, layer over layer, chasing that feeling of light melting into the night rather than just sitting on top of it. No single street or corner, more the whole rush and glow of a city compressed into one canvas. I wanted the color to carry most of it — that restless, electric feeling a place gets once the sun's gone down and the signs take over.
