About Gill Bustamante

I paint large semi-abstract oils that seek to capture, not just the visual details of a location, but its scents, sounds, and spiritual energy. They are inspired by encounters with landscapes, wildlife and birds, particularly the ancient landscapes of England.

My paintings are completely unique in style.

About this Artwork

40 x 40 x 1.5 inches large original semi abstract oil painting of a Meadow in June in England. There is a sultry look to this landscape and it captures. for me, the brooding slightly humid weather we often have in England when the sun it not out but it is warm and still. It is called 'ageless meadow' because that is what it is. It has probably looked like that for 5000 years. The painting shows a view through a meadow across a reed bed and stream towards trees and a lake in the distance. Among the blues and greens of the trees are flashes of pink and lilac and yellow that hint at foxgloves, buttercups and reeds. This was inspired by a walk I took near Wadhurst in Kent. I am very happy with it as I can hear the birds and insects singing and smell the beautiful scents of June in a meadow. I also like the hint of the lake in the background. It captures the never ending curiosity I have to know what is around the next tree or in the next field - dryads and mystical beasts? why not? :-)
Painted on deep edge canvas - edges white, no frame needed.
