Rumen Spasov
Born in 1968 in Bulgaria, Rumen Spasov is a multidisciplinary artist, working with various media and experimenting with different techniques and art forms. In the beginning of his professional career he was painting mostly figurative art, but within the years he found his strong passion for abstract art with its borderless possibilities of the means of expression. His creative process unfolds the forms in a continual play between control and letting go. This allows him to express directly the creative impulses. What is more typical for his abstract paintings is the refined style. It doesn't matter if it's an objective or non-objective abstraction; if accidental discoveries appear in the process of painting, they are intelligently employed in the work. The colours are carefully selected to speak in one language and to complete the overall harmony of the paintings. To Rumen, abstraction is like musical improvisation: even though there are no depicted real subjects and forms, the viewer can experience different feelings and perceptions.
Rumen's paintings are owned by collectors in the United States, Europe and Asia, and decorate the walls of many private offices and administrative buildings in Bulgaria. He holds solo shows almost every year and takes part in group exhibitions throughout the year. Over the years he has had exhibitions in Los Angeles, Norway, the Czech Republic, France, Germany and Bulgaria.
