What does memory mean to you?

Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary’s third definition of memory describes it as “an image or impression of one that is remembered”. (

These definitions are based on the recall of events occurring in our reality.
What about our dreams? We remember some of our dreams. How do we tell the difference between an authentic memory and the memory of a dream? How do we know what is real and what is imagined?
Have you, the reader and viewer, ever had a memory - real or imagined - of a place that you have never been? Were the details accurate to reality? Did you wake up believing the dream was real?
Have you ever wondered as to why things happen in your dreams? Do you have memories of people you’ve never met, or places you’ve never been?
This work of art asks, at the most basic level, what do you remember, and why?
Please note:
1. This work is finished with five layers of varnish to protect it from UV light and dust.
2. The work does not come framed, but the edges are both painted white and varnished.
