About Aleksandr Dubrovskyy

Mr Aleksandr Dubrovskyy was born in 1949 in Oryneno, Khmelnytsky Oblast, Ukraine.
He started painting early. The painting was his most favoured occupation, beyond all usual boyish interests and activities.
At 7 years he was admitted to the art school for children in Yenakiieve; at 16, Aleksandr entered Kharkiv College of Art (1965).

In 1969, graduating from the College of Art, he travels a lot and works assiduously on portrait and landscape painting.
His continuing work at the academic villa in Sednyov offered Aleksandr a happy and unique opportunity to work together with, and learn from, such eminent painters as Konstantyn Lomykin, Fedor Zakharov, Nikolay Glushchenko, Viktor Shatalin, and Tatyana Yablonskaya. They have profoundly influenced his artistic formation. Sednyov... this marvellous nook of Ukraine became the artist’s creative workshop.

About this Artwork

Incoming Tide – Bali, Pacific Coast

Part of Aleksandr Dubrovskyy's rare Bali series, Incoming Tide captures the dramatic coastline of Bali's southern shore, where volcanic cliffs meet the turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Created during the artist's creative period on the island, this original oil painting reflects the constantly changing rhythm of the ocean and the unique geological formations shaped by wind, waves, and tropical sunlight over centuries.

The warm tones of the sunlit rocks contrast beautifully with the cool blue-green water, while expressive impasto brushwork brings movement and energy to the scene. Painted in the tradition of contemporary impressionism and plein air observation, the work conveys both the power of nature and the peaceful atmosphere of Bali's coastline.

This painting belongs to a limited group of landscapes inspired by the artist's time in Bali, making it a distinctive and collectible work within Aleksandr Dubrovskyy's artistic legacy.
