Alanna Eakin
About

Alanna's work has an initial immediacy when she creates, using bold colours to wash the canvas building up several layers and balancing the colours around the canvas. She uses a mixture of mediums to layer, edit and experiment. Later there becomes a play off of spontaneity and controlled abstract mark-making.
Alanna is inspired by the colours and sensations found in nature. She has a combined fascination with patterns and motifs found on feminine vintage fabrics and pottery. It the combination of the two elements Alanna wishes to revive, restore and celebrate in her work.
Alanna's approach is inspired by the likes of Joan Mitchell, Helen Frankenthaler, Monet, Tracey Emin, Peter Doig, and Georgia O'Keeffe.
