About Maria Camila Chinchilla

Maria Camila was born in Bogotá, Colombia. She studied Visual Arts, with emphasis in Graphic Expression at Javeriana University. The majority of her artwork is in painting and illustration. Her work has been exhibited in Bogotá and London.

Maria’s art is inspired in the emotions, questions and answers toward existence as human beings. On the other hand, part of her work is about the color pallete, rhythm and movement of nature related to temporality and its symbolism. Color is one of the most important elements in her work. She use of an intense color combinations that alludes to different sensations and atmospheres.

Maria focuses on an introspective creative process through pulsations, instincts and impulses. Brush strokes, smudges, contrasts, jets of paint, pastel strokes become an emotional and intuitive visual language. Therefore the influence of expressionist painting, fauvism and modern masters has been key in her artistic work.
