July Dissolving is an original panoramic oil painting of the view from the South Downs in summer 2025. It is 48 x 24 x 1.5 inches. The painting was made after a jubilant walk up this hill from Washington, Sussex. The path winds steeply upwards through farmland and eventually arrives at Chanctonbury Ring hill fort. You can see a complete, hectic abundance of wildflowers and brambles and the hint of a winding chalk path. The scene is just starting to dissolve, which represents the way nature transitions from one season into another – almost like a scene change in a theatre. As always, I have chosen to show some of the actual features of this landscape along with how I felt about it. It is a happy but slightly wistful painting as summer is over far too soon in England! Painted on deep-edge canvas, with pale yellow edges, ready to hang, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. #art #artist #artmaster
