About Vidal Toteyo
The sense of space and depth in Vidal's paintings is achieved thanks to various textures, which often give the works an almost sculptural form. The images consist of many interacting layers, which gives surprising optical effects. Paintings are multi-colored surfaces shimmering with iridescent and metallic reflections of light. The multi-layer nature of Vidal's works emphasizes the changes that took place on the canvas with the application of each subsequent layer. Each painting is a story, multi-threaded and complicated.
The artist presented his works at exhibitions and art salons in Poland, Spain and France. He is an active member of the IAXAI group.
About the Product
The process of change is the pretext for painting NEW MUTATIONS. Change surrounds us. Change is a constant process. We don't know what it will lead to, we don't know what tomorrow will look like. NEW MUTATIONS are dynamic canvases in the style of emotional expressionism, going beyond the conventions of informal and action painting. The paintings in this series are the result of mutations, distorting the initial form in the direction designed by the artist. From general to detail, from whole to detail, the artist adds new elements. They differ in texture, color - they mutate when viewed from different perspectives. This is the result of the materials used and the effects of light reflection on matte and glossy, flat and textured surfaces.
The series refers to transhumanism, an intellectual and cultural movement that postulates the possibility and need to use science and knowledge to improve the human being. The application of neurotechnology, biotechnology and nanotechnology is expected to lead to this. The author in the series NEW MUTATIONS is on the side of critics of transhumanist views, who recognize that the most effective form of improving society are ethical, not technological measures.
