About Irina Wolfe

Irina Wolfe is a freelance photographer based in Millheim, USA, whose work is defined by a graphic designer’s eye and a sculptor’s sensibility. Her artistic foundation, built on illustration and graphic design, directly informs a photographic style centered on powerful composition. She is drawn to bold geometries, strong lines, and the deliberate use of contrast, negative space, and deep shadow.

Her journey began with a camera purchased out of an admiration for sculptural form, which evolved into a dedicated passion for the emotional clarity of black-and-white photography. This focus on tone and structure is occasionally punctuated by forays into color, often expressed through a minimalist lens—a practice that mirrors her pursuit of balance and simplicity beyond the frame.

About this Photograph

William, my husband, and I were driving through the mountains of Turkey, aiming to cross the plateau. We stopped at various places to enjoy the views. We literally didn’t encounter anyone; the wild nature and the wind were our only companions. I admired the pines lining the road and suggested turning onto a road that seemed to lead nowhere. This decision led us to a mountain covered with stones, where huge, beautiful pines grew out of the rocks. We climbed the enormous stones and boulders for two hours until we reached the top of a mountain, where we were greeted by the expansive sky filled with clouds and pines observing the world below. It was a wonderful adventure. Later, we crossed the plateau and ventured into a small town known for its good food and local authenticity.
