Inspired by the story of the 'Inverted Jenny'; a United States postage stamp first issued on May 10, 1918; in which the image of the original airplane in the center of the design was accidentally printed upside-down. It is probably the most famous error in American philately, with only one pane of the 100 inverted stamps, ever found. Making this stamp one of the most expensive and highly prized in history.
A single Inverted Jenny was sold at a Robert A. Siegel auction in November 2007 for $977,500 USD.
