About Michael Jackson
About the Product
A visually arresting, large profile portrait, in blue sharpie, by Michael Jackson, which may well be a stylised self-portrait.
The artwork also features Michael's famous 'arrow and three zeros' signature embellishment. This self-realised insignia clearly had a deep and personal meaning for Michael and generally only appears on articles to which he had a close personal connection. Some have speculated that Michael signed this way, when he believed he was in the last year of his life.
Today, the collection of Michael Jackson’s drawings is valued at an estimated $900 million. The majority are stored in a specialised facility housed in a hangar at Santa Monica Airport, which Michael also used as an art studio when he was alive. The works are presently co-owned by the Michael Jackson Estate and Brett Livingston-Strong: an Australian artist and sculptor, who frequently collaborated with Jackson on numerous art projects.
The artwork is signed in the lower right "M.J." and dated "'85". It is framed in a an Italian wooden frame finished in 'dark gun metal' and protected with UV-resistant water-white museum-grade glass. It remains in excellent condition.
Unframed, the drawing measures 28 cm x 35.5 cm ( 11" x 14").
