About Natalia Shchipakina
Painting has been my passion since childhood. Among many different techniques oil painting is my favourite.
Themes of my paintings are as variegated as our world: cities, people, life, animals, dramatic art, nature. I am greatly influenced by such famous artists like Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Isaac Levitan, Auguste Renoir. My work was strongly influenced by Picasso.
The painting Girl on the Ball made a big impression on me in my childhood.

In the foreground of the canvas are lush purple hortensia bushes. On the left you can see a house, near which bushes grow. In the background there is a sky with birds, other houses and a green field. Hydrangea or hortensia was brought to Europe at the beginning of the XIV century (mainly England and France). The name «hortensia» was given to the plant by Philibert Commerson, it is derived from the Latin hortus (garden). Since Hortense was a common female name, many versions arose about the woman to whom this name could be dedicated: from Nicole-Reine Lepot, who could be called Hortense in the family, to Princess Hortense, the sister of Prince Charles Heinrich of Nassau-Siegen of the Holy Roman Empire. The author of the painting tried to make the work as positive and pleasant as possible. Bright colors, interesting combination of tones and the feeling of lightness and comfort. Canvas on a cardboard. Varnished. Signed.
