About Maria Arias

Maria Arias is a Venezuelan-French artist living in Houten, where she has found a deep sense of home in this open and welcoming environment.

In 2007, she read about a heartbreaking exhibition in which a starving dog was used as "art." That moment changed her life forever. She launched several campaigns to help stray animals in Venezuela and organised sterilisation programmes from the Netherlands. However, after witnessing immense cruelty, she decided to contribute to animal welfare in a different way.

“Homecoming”

This painting, created with acrylics on Claybord, depicts a powerful and peaceful lion inside a temple. The temple symbolizes our inner selves, representing introspection—a time for examining our thoughts and feelings, fostering self-awareness and self-compassion. The window behind, with light streaming through, symbolizes the moment of enlightenment. It signifies the instance when we cease dwelling on the past, release worries about the future, and begin embracing the present moment. In the process of discovering our true selves, we find our home.

Mount

Our standard white mounts are 2.4mm thick. The mount border is 25mm, 38mm or 50mm wide, depending on the frame size. All mounts are conservation grade, FSC certified and 100% acid free.

Canvas

Our canvas prints are stretched and framed using a 12-colour Giclée process; providing you with spectacular quality each and every time.
