Crimson Palms

In this painting I let the palms burn with colour. Looking up into their crowns, the fronds turn crimson, magenta, orange and lemon yellow, crossing and overlapping against a sky of turquoise and bright blue. The paint is laid on thickly, so every frond has its own ridge and texture that catches the light and shifts as you move around the canvas. The trunks lean in from all sides and draw the eye upward towards a glowing centre where the light breaks through. It is a painting full of heat and movement, a burst of summer for a space that needs energy and colour.
