About this photograph

Dancer: Gama

Shot in Kaohsiung, Taiwan while Cody was teaching and choreographing at Tsoying High School. “Gama was 15 years old and I felt there was potential in her that had yet to be discovered. I invited her to the studio as I thought she had some very special energy and dynamic in her movements. It turned out that it was a photography session in which she not only surprised me but also herself, with the ability to effortlessly control her body, creating layers of momentum floating across frames.”

Creative Director & Photo: Cody Choi

She danced on three world tours with "Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake", a three-Tony-Award production.
