Mr Aleksandr Dubrovskyy was born in 1949 in Oryneno, Khmelnytsky Oblast, Ukraine.
He started painting early. Painting was his most favoured occupation, beyond all usual boyish interests and activities.
At seven he was admitted to the art school for children in Yenakiieve; at 16, Aleksandr entered Kharkiv College of Art (1965).

In 1969, after graduating from the College of Art, he travelled a lot and worked assiduously on portrait and landscape painting.
His continuing work at the academic villa in Sednyov offered Aleksandr a happy and unique opportunity to work together with, and learn from, such eminent painters as Konstantyn Lomykin, Fedor Zakharov, Nikolay Glushchenko, Viktor Shatalin, and Tatyana Yablonskaya. They profoundly influenced his artistic formation. Sednyov... this marvellous nook of Ukraine became the artist’s creative workshop.

Gentle Waves is a rare work from Aleksandr Dubrovskyy's Bali period, inspired by the dramatic coastline of Dreamland Beach, one of the island's most celebrated ocean landscapes.

Created in 2021, this original oil painting captures the meeting of turquoise waves, golden sand, and sunlit cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean. Using expressive palette-knife brushwork and luminous colour, Dubrovskyy conveys not only the beauty of the location but also the atmosphere of a fleeting tropical moment.

Painted during the artist's years in Bali, this work belongs to a distinctive chapter of his artistic journey. Unlike his European landscapes, the Bali series reflects the vibrant light, warm climate, and powerful energy of the island's coastline. Paintings from this period are relatively rare and represent an important part of the artist's international body of work.

Dreamland Beach is known for its sweeping ocean views, rolling surf, and spectacular cliffs. In Gentle Waves, the artist transforms this iconic location into a timeless impressionist composition filled with movement, light, and serenity.
