About Ilham Lekmiti
Celebrated contemporary artist, Ilham Lekmiti . Punctuating her rhythmic, gestural marks and paint drips with varying shades of pinks, greens, and blues, Ilham creates a vivid painting that will add dimension and a pop of color to any space. Using both oil paint and oil pastel, this painting marries Ilham textured abstract style with her love of portraiture.
“To create a small world where the expressiveness of art meets the expansiveness of space to elevate the human spirit to its pure nature.”
As an artist, Ilham studies the concept of excavation and discovery and she explore consistent themes of change and evolution using various mediums including oil paint, acrylic paint, oil stick, ink, house paint, gesso and pastels. She uses heavy sculptural layering to explore the dynamic tension between the unintentional stroke and the meticulously planned one. Together, these gestures create connection and movement, and her intuitive mark-making reflect her spirit and the humanness of her experiences.
