Summer Spirit is a hazy abstract landscape oil painting that hints of a shadowy late summer meadow and trees. It is 36 x 24 x 1.5 inches. A transparent swallow can be seen to the right, and behind her you can see the suggestion of out-of-focus flowers, trees and a meadow. It captures a moment from a summer walk in Mayfield – made from memory, which retains the feel of it more than the accuracy of the meadow I was in. The colours range through violet, green, yellow, pink and blue. The aim of this painting was to express the sensation of looking at a landscape with eyes partly shut. The swallow is the spirit of summer, as swallows come to the UK during summertime and represent summer to me. Painted on deep-edge canvas with white edges; ready to hang and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
