About Mista Fig
My artwork is mainly figurative, offering an interpretation of life’s characters, with a social comment.
Through the years I have enjoyed exploring a wide variety of materials, from clay to plaster, mosaicing, found objects, rapid prototyping and life-casting, plus carving centuries old bog oak (fossilized wood).
Focusing on a theme, I may spend a few years completing every series.

Each sculpture is produced by hand, is individual and an edition of one.

This is another inspired from my time in Prince Albert, Karoo Desert, South Africa. Based on a fall from grace, the Idol is no more, he has been felled by his own belief in his greatness, he is twisted and in free fall, my take on the celebrity the madness that possesses humanity, other people's greatness created by the viewer.
