About Aleksandr Dubrovskyy

Mr Aleksandr Dubrovskyy was born in 1949 in Oryneno, Khmelnytsky Oblast, Ukraine.
He started painting early. The painting was his most favoured occupation, beyond all usual boyish interests and activities.
At 7 years he was admitted to the art school for children in Yenakiieve; at 16, Aleksandr entered Kharkiv College of Art (1965).

In 1969, graduating from the College of Art, he travels a lot and works assiduously on portrait and landscape painting.
His continuing work at the academic villa in Sednyov offered Aleksandr a happy and unique opportunity to work together with, and learn from, such eminent painters as Konstantyn Lomykin, Fedor Zakharov, Nikolay Glushchenko, Viktor Shatalin, and Tatyana Yablonskaya. They have profoundly influenced his artistic formation. Sednyov... this marvellous nook of Ukraine became the artist’s creative workshop.

About this Artwork

Roses

A luminous bouquet of garden roses painted in the artist's signature impressionist manner. Soft pink blossoms emerge from a delicate harmony of silver-grey, lavender, and pearl tones, creating an atmosphere of elegance, serenity, and timeless beauty.

Unlike a traditional botanical study, this painting focuses on mood and emotion. The roses seem to float in light, their petals opening gracefully while subtle reflections and translucent brushstrokes create a feeling of movement and air. The interplay between the vibrant greens and the gentle pinks gives the composition both freshness and refinement.

Created in 2009, this work belongs to an important period in Aleksandr Dubrovskyy's artistic development, when he explored the expressive possibilities of color, light, and floral subjects. The painting demonstrates the artist's ability to combine technical mastery with emotional sensitivity, transforming an ordinary bouquet into a poetic celebration of nature.

The rose has long symbolized beauty, affection, gratitude, and renewal. In this composition, the flowers become a timeless reminder of life's most delicate and meaningful moments.
