In this painting, I depicted Madrid, the capital of Spain, in an expressive night-time setting, full of bright lights and rich, varied tones that create a vivid atmosphere. I used one of my favourite techniques, which gives the work a slightly fairy-tale, fantasy-like feel.
The Metropolis Building rises on the left, its dome crowned with a golden winged figure. Gran Vía stretches into the distance, lined with warm lamps and glowing windows, while passing headlights leave colourful streaks along the road. Above the city, the sky comes alive: deep blues swirl around a bright moon and scattered stars, and every street lamp shines with its own golden halo.
Textured strokes give the surface depth, so the buildings seem to sparkle and the street hums with evening life. This is Madrid as it feels after dark: warm, lively and a little magical. The painting brings energy and light into any room.
