Surf at the Rocky Shore

Two dark rocks in the surf, and the waves break over them in bursts of white and pale yellow spray. To the right, a violet cliff runs along the coast, with small patches of green. The sky is light and moving, blue with touches of yellow, pink and lilac. In the foreground, the shore is covered in rounded pebbles in green, ochre and deep violet, each one laid down with a single thick stroke of the palette knife. The paint is heavy and textured throughout, so the water, the stones and the spray all have real relief on the canvas. Oil on canvas. Signed. Varnished.
