The creative process begins on location, where I observe directly from nature—sketching, taking notes, and capturing reference photographs. In the studio, the work unfolds intuitively. I start by laying down brush-painted base layers, gradually building texture and form through successive applications of impasto with a palette knife.
My technique draws from a blend of Impressionist optical mixing and time-honoured methods used by the old masters, such as scumbling and glazing. These layered approaches allow each piece to evolve organically, reaching a natural and harmonious conclusion over time.

The finished work is a contemporary composition that balances abstraction and realism. The palette knife strokes, carefully applied, create a rich surface texture and a luminous quality often compared to stained glass or mosaic.
