I am interested in taking used, unwanted materials and making them into art. Much of my work is made from discarded waste card collected from local outlets. It is material that has maybe been torn, battered and thrown out as refuse. I further cut, tear, score and sand the surfaces revealing the corrugations beneath as texture is important to the work. The pieces are then painted and shuffled around until, perhaps, a ‘finished’ work may come into being.
Sometimes, an image may be collaged into the work – please see ‘About Bob Barron’
‘Enigma of arrival 1’ consists of the natural packaging card that has been torn and scored and a remaining ‘A’ of the original text has been painted red. Black pen markings have been added (circle and arrow) together with a collaged Graeco –Roman head and steam ship, all perhaps, to suggest a notion of travel.
The finished piece is glazed and has a 4 cm white, wooden frame. It is signed at the back and will come with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and ready to hang.
