About Aleksandr Dubrovskyy

Mr Aleksandr Dubrovskyy was born in 1949 in Oryneno, Khmelnytsky Oblast, Ukraine.
He started painting early. The painting was his most favoured occupation, beyond all usual boyish interests and activities.
At 7 years he was admitted to the art school for children in Yenakiieve; at 16, Aleksandr entered Kharkiv College of Art (1965).

In 1969, graduating from the College of Art, he travels a lot and works assiduously on portrait and landscape painting.
His continuing work at the academic villa in Sednyov offered Aleksandr a happy and unique opportunity to work together with, and learn from, such eminent painters as Konstantyn Lomykin, Fedor Zakharov, Nikolay Glushchenko, Viktor Shatalin, and Tatyana Yablonskaya. They have profoundly influenced his artistic formation. Sednyov... this marvellous nook of Ukraine became the artist’s creative workshop.

About this Artwork

Spring Bloom in Koenig Estate Park

This painting is part of a series dedicated to the historic landscapes of the Koenig Estate, once owned by the renowned Koenig family, prominent industrialists and sugar manufacturers whose estates became important cultural landmarks of Eastern Europe.

Rather than depicting a formal garden, the artist focuses on the living poetry of the park itself. Delicate spring flowers spread like a violet-blue carpet beneath centuries-old trees, while soft morning light filters through the branches, creating an atmosphere of silence, renewal, and timeless beauty.

Aleksandr Dubrovskyy has long been fascinated by historic parks and manor landscapes, where architecture and nature exist in harmony. In this work, the manor building appears only as a distant silhouette, allowing the viewer to experience the landscape as a living memory rather than a documentary image.

Painted in an expressive impressionist manner, the work celebrates the European tradition of park landscapes, where carefully designed natural spaces become works of art themselves. The vibrant color palette and rich brushwork capture the fleeting beauty of spring and preserve the spirit of a historic place for future generations.

Today, many historic estates and their surrounding parks have changed significantly over time. This painting serves as both an artistic interpretation and a visual record of a unique cultural landscape.
