About Aleksandr Dubrovskyy

Mr Aleksandr Dubrovskyy was born in 1949 in Oryneno, Khmelnytsky Oblast, Ukraine.
He started painting early. Painting was his most favoured occupation, beyond all usual boyish interests and activities.
At seven he was admitted to the art school for children in Yenakiieve; at 16, Aleksandr entered Kharkiv College of Art (1965).

In 1969, after graduating from the College of Art, he travelled a lot and worked assiduously on portrait and landscape painting.
His continuing work at the academic villa in Sednyov offered Aleksandr a happy and unique opportunity to work together with, and learn from, such eminent painters as Konstantyn Lomykin, Fedor Zakharov, Nikolay Glushchenko, Viktor Shatalin, and Tatyana Yablonskaya. They profoundly influenced his artistic formation. Sednyov... this marvellous nook of Ukraine became the artist’s creative workshop.

About this artwork

There are days in spring when nature seems to dissolve into light. In River Travel, Aleksandr Dubrovskyy captures one of those fleeting moments when water becomes a mirror, trees bloom in delicate shades of pink and gold, and the entire landscape appears suspended between reality and reflection.

The river does not simply flow through the scene. It carries light, colour and movement. Every brushstroke vibrates with life, transforming the water surface into a mosaic of reflections and shimmering tones. The blossoming trees, soft sky and luminous ripples create an atmosphere of freshness, renewal and quiet joy.

Painted in an expressive impressionist manner, this work celebrates the beauty of spring at its most poetic. The artist focuses not on precise details but on emotion, light and the fleeting sensation of being fully present within nature. The result is a painting filled with air, transparency and the gentle energy of a new season.

Part of Aleksandr Dubrovskyy's river landscape series, this work reflects the artist's ability to transform an ordinary natural scene into an unforgettable experience of colour and light. This painting invites the viewer to slow down, follow the reflections across the water and rediscover the simple wonder of a spring morning.
