Perhaps I am painting the cruelty of contemporary life because it is in opposition to my naïve outlook.

In contrast to the physical features of my paintings, I think I am visualising my feeling of anxiety in contemporary life.

About this artwork

Count Down Series consists of 11 paintings. I think I represented my interests in those days. I put my anxieties, fears and anger as well as pleasures, hopes and lots of love. I was trying to simplify my complicated feelings and mindscape in this small world.

Every time I view my past works like this series, I feel sadness, shame, regret and aversion. However, I can find hopes, repulsions and vitalities at the same time.
